Holder of a Polish surname, was born to a German father and still holds German citizenship. Compiled an outstanding junior career, winning French Open 2003 and reaching #7. As a pro, he won 3 ATP titles: Umag 2006, Casablanca 2010 and Chennai 2011. He reached final at Rome 2008 where he lost to Djokovic. Also won the gold medal at Bejing 2008 in doubles with Roger Federer.
